Even though they both taste creamy and delicious, they differ in a few key ways. Yoghurt and custard are both excellent options for someone with a sweet palate. What Is Frozen Custard?

The FDA states that while frozen custard must adhere to the same regulations as ice cream, it must also include 1.4 percent by weight of egg yolks. This implies that for frozen custard to be richer and creamier, egg yolks must be used. This may seem a bit puzzling because egg yolks are sometimes added to ice cream, especially handmade varieties. The FDA would actually also classify those as frozen custard. However, there's another (less technical) distinction between frozen custard and ice cream.

The density of frozen custard is what actually makes it unique from ice cream. Frozen custard lacks the air whipping that gives ice cream its airy, light texture.

What Is Frozen Yoghurt?

Yoghurt, together with milk and sugar, is the primary component of frozen yoghurt, a sort of ice cream. Tangy and created with yoghurt instead of creams or milk, this frozen dairy treat is delicious. While the components of some recipes are combined and then frozen in the freezer, others go through the same churning process as regular ice cream. It's quick and simple.

The three main components of frozen custard are egg yolk, sugar, and cream. What distinguishes frozen custard from other frozen desserts is the use of egg yolk. This dessert has a delicious, somewhat denser consistency because of the custard foundation. 

On the other hand, the main ingredients of frozen yoghurt are yoghurt cultures, milk, and sugar. The living cultures provide a hint of acidity and the yoghurt's tanginess. It is thought to be healthier than other frozen sweets, though.


The basis of frozen custard is composed of cream, sugar, and egg yolk; it does not include living cultures or probiotics. It is valued more for its traditional custard-like flavour than for any possible health advantages. Since frozen yoghurt is made from yoghurt cultures, it includes living, active cultures.


The smooth and velvety texture of the frozen custard is widely recognised for its thick and creamy texture. While frozen custard has a thicker viscosity, frozen yoghurt is lighter and airier.

Frozen custard is famous for being rich and creamy, thanks to its higher fat content from egg yolks and cream. This richness gives it a luxurious texture and delicious flavour. In contrast, frozen yoghurt has less fat than frozen custard because it's made mainly from yoghurt and milk.
