SRK To Sanjay Dutt: Alcohol Brands Owned By Indian Celebs

Indian spirits are taking over global liquor brands with a history spanning decades and centuries. From whisky and rum to wine and gin, the home-grown brands are shining because of the craftsmanship with which they are able to create high-quality alcohol boasting a smooth finish.

Among several brands that are shaping the Indian liquor industry, some are also backed or founded by celebrities. From Shah Rukh Khan to Sanjay Dutt, these celebs have invested money, humanpower, research, and time to create spirits that are bagging awards on international platforms.

Shah Rukh Khan’s D’Yavol

Shah Rukh Khan, along with his son, Aryan Khan, introduced the world to D’Yavol. Under this brand, the father-son duo have launched premium scotch whisky that has been creating a mark in the liquor world. Last year in November, it bagged ‘Best Overall Scotch’ and ‘Best of Class’ blended scotch malt whisky at the 2024 New York World Spirits Competition (NYWSC) for INCEPTION, their flagship whisky.

The whisky is a blend of eight rare single malts, aged up to 12 years, sourced from the Highland, Speyside, Lowland, and Island regions. The nose of whisky offers a blend of oak spice, dried fruit, and dark chocolate. It also delivers a hint of ripe plums, smoked wood, and spiced vanilla.

Rana Daggubati’s Loca Loka

Actor Rana Daggubati owns an international tequila brand that brings on the ‘cultural kinship between India and Mexico’. Loca Loka liquor is made using 100% pure highland agave sourced from the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. Matured over six years, the alcohol is an impeccable melange of spiced and sweet notes.

In collaboration with music composer Anirudh Ravichander, Loca Loka was born. It is India’s first tequila brand that combines the spirits of two countries. It comprises the aroma of Indian spices and Mexican fierceness making it a perfect pick for bibulous looking to try something unique.

Danny Denzongpa’s Yuksom Breweries

Founded in 1987 by Danny Denzonpa, Yuksom Breweries is the third-largest beer brand in India. The brewery is located in Sikkim, and it is named after the actor’s hometown. In 2005, the brewery expanded its base to Odisha and is referred to as Denzong Breweries.

Under Yuksom Breweries, at least 11 popular beer brands have been launched. Not just that, the company also owns Rhino Brewery, India’s first craft brewery founded in Assam in 2016. The actor and many of his family members run the brewery and subsequent brands under its banner.

Sanjay Dutt’s The Glenwalk

Actor Sanjay Dutt partnered with The Glenwalk, a brand synonymous with premium scotch whiskies. With a smooth finish and familiar notes, the brand has bagged a few awards. Available in Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Maharashtra, and other regions of India.

Matured in traditional oak casks, The Glenwalk Scotch is priced between Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,600. In 2024, the brand made a record by selling 600,000 bottles in just the first seven months of the fiscal year 2024-25.
