Wondering why some foods are easier to digest than others? It depends on many factors, primarily on moisture content, fat content, solubility and some other factors. Simpler carbs are easier for the body to digest since it does not need to overwork to break them down and get the nutrients.

On the other hand, high-fat content, excessive fibre content or excessive moisture content can sometimes be unsuitable for sensitive stomachs and can irritate your bowels and digestive systems. Methods like boiling, steaming, plain roasting, and baking are acceptable if heavy seasoning or added flavouring agents are not used. Naturally gluten-free options are also better for your digestive system. Here are some foods which are easy to digest

Chicken

For the most part, chicken is easy to digest. It is a lean source of protein and baking, roasting, or boiling chicken without excessive added fats or heavy spices can make it easier to digest. Choosing lean cuts and skinless varieties can help since the skin and fatty parts of the meat can be harder for some people to tolerate.

White Rice

White rice is milled and polished to remove the bran and germs, which contain most of the fibre. The lower fibre content makes it easier on the digestive system. It is also a simple carbohydrate, primarily composed of starch. So the body can easily break it down and absorb it, which can be beneficial for those with sensitive digestive systems. White rice is naturally gluten-free, making it a suitable option for people with celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity.

Plain Yoghurt

Plain yoghurt is generally considered easy to digest for most people. It is made from fermented milk, and during the fermentation process, beneficial bacteria can break down some of the lactose in milk and produce lactic acid. The probiotics in yoghurt can improve digestive health by promoting a healthy balance of gut bacteria and the live cultures can help with the absorption of nutrients in the digestive system.

Toast

Plain toast is considered easy to digest for a number of reasons. The process of toasting cuts down its moisture which helps break down complex carbohydrates and makes it easier for the body to process. it is low in fibre and has less fibre than whole grain bread, so it can be gentler on the stomach. So plain toasted bread can be easy for the body to process.

Bananas

Bananas are a good source of dietary fibre, primarily in the form of pectin, which can help regulate the digestive system. The ripest bananas are often the easiest to digest because they have a higher sugar content and are softer in texture. Unripe bananas, however, contain more starch and can be less easily digested. But bananas are known to support bowel movement and aid digestive health
