From Chaat To Chana Masala: Rakulpreet And Ajay Devgn Make The Most Of ‘Dilli Ka Khana’

There’s hardly any Dilliwala who would disagree to the fact that you get the best of street food in the capital. Dil walon ki Dilli, as they call it, is home to a variety of street-side stalls, cafes, restaurants and eating joints that offer a range of delicacies on their menu. It is interesting to note how a particular dish or food item comes to be associated with a particular place. Take vada pav for instance. It’s not like you wouldn’t find vada pav in Delhi but the iconic street fare is a gift of the Mumbaikars and will always be associated with them. Similarly, you’ve got Dilli ki chaat and scores of people travel all the way to the city just to devour the heavenly street food. 

There are tons of celebrities who might have moved to Mumbai for their work but their heart still lies in the capital. Kartik Aaryan has often been spotted in Delhi and he has admitted the fact that he comes here for the food. And now we have a new set of patrons for Dilli ka khana. Rakulpreet Singh and Ajay Devgn are going to be seen together on the big screen again with their new film, Runway 34. Amidst the promotions, the two lead actors were in Delhi with their team. Rakulpreet took to her Instagram stories to give us a sneak peek into their indulgence. 

She panned around the food table and showed us a couple of dishes that she was relishing along with Ajay Devgn and team. It included palak patta chaat, some fresh chaat papdi, stuffed golgappas and chana masala. While Ajay Devgn was having chicken, it was some diet food like salmon and rice for the actress. No, this isn’t a holy prasad named after the Hindu God. It is actually a popular street food item, sold in the busy markets of Delhi. Lentil-based fritters are deep-fried and slathered with a coriander and sweet chutney. Topped with sliced onions and some grated radish on the side, it makes a delectable dish.
