The world of foodies is forever divided on certain dishes. For some foodies, dishes like the Pineapple Pizza is a big yaaay, and for other foodies, the Hawaiian pizza is big nay. A similar sentiment is shared when foodies are asked their opinion on Pizza Donuts. The first reaction that comes to the mind of some, when they put the word Pizza and Donut together is - disaster. However, contrary to the first impression, a few foodies have gone on record to not only declare their love for the delicacy, but also shoot ASMR videos eating the Pizza Donut. In many of the food festivals hosted in the United States, Pizza Donuts can be found commonly. For the uninitiated, the Pizza Donut is a savoury deep-fried dish in which, the donut hole is stuffed with cheese and pepperoni.

The food community of youngsters is extremely divided on the topic of Pizza Donuts. “It’s not that it’s bad, it’s just that when someone says donut - the first thing that comes to the mind is a chocolate dessert that’s sweet and delicious in taste. Similarly when I think of pizza, I am usually picturing a savoury thin-crust Neapolitan pizza. So, it’s not so much about the taste, it’s just that the two ingredients don’t sound right. And for a foodie like me, that’s where I’m put off,” says Sanskar Agarwal, a student of Ramanujan College and an avid food blogger. While the Pizza Donut may be a big red flag for Sanskar, Mehul Sharma, a student of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College is a foodie who is up for experimenting. “I don’t understand what’s the hesitation in trying something new. Tandoori momos have also come from experimenting with steamed momos. Did you know that originally momos were only steamed and fried? When the dish came to India, chefs here, started experimenting with it. Therefore, I don’t think we should be quick to say no to any fusion food. I like having Pizza Donuts.”

Ingredients:

* Tube biscuit dough - 1 batch

* Tomato sauce- 1/2 cup

* Italian seasoning - 1 teaspoon

* Shredded cheese of choice - 1/2 cup to 1 cup

* Pizza toppings of choice - 1/2 cup

For the biscuit dough:

* All-purpose flour - 2 cups

* Sugar - 1 Tbsp

* Baking powder - 1 Tbsp

* Salt - 1 tsp

* Butter - ½ cup, cold, cut into Tablespoons

* Buttermilk - ¾ cup, cold

Method:

1. Preheat your oven to 375F.

2. If making your biscuit dough from scratch, in a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder & salt.

3. The butter is supposed to be cold but you can also use the butter at room temperature. If you do use cold butter, use a fork or pastry cutter to cut in the butter until it forms pea-size pieces.

4. Add the cold buttermilk all at once and mix until dough forms a ball.

5. Lightly flour a surface for rolling out the dough and roll into a large rectangle, about 1" thick.

6. Use a donut cookie cutter to cut out your donuts - or two circle cookie cutters to form the donut.

7. Mix the Italian seasoning into the pizza sauce and then spread 1 Tablespoon of sauce on the top of each donut.

8. Sprinkle cheese on each donut, as desired, then top with your preferred toppings.

9. Bake at 375 for 10-15 minutes, until lightly golden brown and the cheese is melted.
