Before cooking, Khan joked about Shilpa Shetty Kundra making a lot of money after inviting the choreographer to share Yakhni pulao recipe on her YouTube channel. Traditionally, yakhni pulao is made with mutton, but since Farah Khan’s helper Dilip forgot about it, he brought chicken. The director added that since chicken cooks faster than mutton, making yakhni pulao with it is a good idea if you are looking for an easy way out.

Farah Khan’s Recipe Of Yakhni Pulao

Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken
  • 2 sliced onions
  • 2 diced potatoes
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2-3 sliced green chillies
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • Salt to taste
  • 1.5 cups rice
  • 500 gm cup curd

Method Of Preparation

  • Farah Khan started by slicing onions and dicing potatoes. While you prepare chicken, soak rice in a bowl and keep them aside.
  • Add oil to the pressure cooker. Once the oil is hot, add cumin seeds and green chillies.
  • As the cumin seeds start to splutter, fold in sliced onions and wait for them to become golden brown.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste and chicken. Farah Khan avoided adding water because chicken leeches water. Wait for two whistles. If you are cooking mutton, you must at least wait for four whistles for the meat to cook.
  • Open the pressure cooker, and fold in soaked basmati rice, curd, diced potatoes, garam masala, and salt to taste.
  • After four whistles, turn off the flame, and let the ingredients come together. If you are making Yakhni pulao with mutton, wait for six to seven whistles before turning off the flame.
  • Farah Khan served Yakhni pulao hot to her house helpers. While two of them loved the dish, Dilip was not impressed much with Farah’s cooking skills.
