As part of a two-day state visit to India, in an effort to strengthen Indo-French relations, Emmanuel Macron had a rather eventful time in the country, courtesy of the Republic Day celebrations. The President of the French Republic, who arrived in Jaipur where he was greeted by PM Modi, took off on a roadshow from the Jantar-Mantar in Jaipur to the Sanganeri Gate. The two also stopped over at the Hawa Mahal to sip on a cup of kulhad chai before exploring the local handicraft markets. The two dignitaries later headed to Rambagh Palace for all-vegetarian dinner, and to enjoy the local kalbelia performance.
Arriving in Delhi in the late hours of Wednesday, where was hosted by ITC Maurya, Macron was greeted by the staff with a variety of edible arrangements created especially for the occasion of his visit. Some of the treats included gud para, kasoori methi shortbread, raspberry macaroons, multi-millet sunflower seed cake, fresh berries, coconut-black pepper-white chocolate truffles and edible chocolate stairs with an assortment of more chocolate truffles. Accommodated at the Grand Presidential Floor, which has previously housed the likes of Barack Obama and Donald Trump, the display of edible treats extended to include a vintage steam engine carrying chocolate slabs of various flavours – dark chocolate-hazelnut-pistachio, lavender-pistachio-berry, black currant-sunflower seeds and pecan-almond milk.
