Some of those defences might even be true. These advantages should not be disregarded, even when drinking alcohol is not advised. While studies have shown that the usage of natural chemicals in beer can have a favourable impact on health, the effects of beer on health have long been a subject of debate. The effect of beer on cardiovascular health has been discussed for years, but studies have shown that men who drank up to 13.5 ounces of beer per week had better cardiovascular health than men who did not consume alcohol. Therefore, it appears that moderation in consumption may benefit the heart. 

Beer has just as many antioxidants as wine, despite frequent claims to the contrary.
