Crab Curry: Delicious Homemade Crab Recipe To Relish

Blend of spices and coconut, Crab curry is mouth-watering and delicious. The dish is quite popular in South India and is served in abundance in many restaurants. The curry is easy to cook and is a delightful recipe to serve for dinners. 

 Here’s how to prepare this Crab Curry at home!

Cooking Time: 40 minutes

Servings: 4

 

Ingredients:

•           3 tsp Oil 

•           5 to 6 Big sized Crabs Or about 10 small sized Crabs    

•           18 to 20 Garlic Cloves

•           1 inch Ginger Chopped

•           3 Sliced Onion

•           ½ cup Desiccated Coconut

•           3 tsp Fennel Seeds

•           2 tsp cumin seed

•           ½ cup Coriander Leaves

•           1 Green Chilli

•           ½ cup fresh grated Coconut

•           2 tsp Red Chilli Powder

•           2 tsp Garam Masala Powder

•           1 tsp Turmeric

•           1 tsp Coriander Seed Powder

•           1 Tomato

•           2 cups of Water

•           Salt as per taste

Method:

    Take out the crab and dice it. Next, wash it properly and leave it aside 

    Take a pan and put a little amount of oil. Heat the pan, and add fennel seed and cumin seed. Turn off the flame once the seeds start crackling

    Next, put 2 sliced onions and saute them on a low flame until they turn golden-brown

    Now add garlic cloves, desiccated coconut, 3 tsp coriander leaves, ginger and green chillies. Stir all the ingredients. Now, blend this fried mixture in a grinder. This mixture comprises fried onion, ginger-garlic, cumin seed, coriander leaves, green chillies and desiccated coconut.  Blend them until it forms a fine paste. Put a little amount of water if needed

    Next, put a little amount of oil in a pan and put freshly grated coconut into it. Stir them until they turn brown. Once done, grind them to form a fine paste and add water if needed

    In this step, take a vessel and put 3 tsp of oil in it. Next, put the remaining chopped onion. Stir them for 2 mins on a low heat

    Include tomatoes and saute them as well for a minute

    Now add all the spices except salt and mix them properly. Stir them for a while

    Simmer the mixture for approximately 5 to 6 minutes until it turns brown

    Next, add the fresh coconut spice paste to the curry followed by the crabs

    Combine well and put the desiccated coconut paste into the gravy

    Keep stirring it and check the consistency. Add water if needed and cover the pan with a lid for approximately 5 minutes. Stir again. Once the curry starts boiling add salt according to your taste

    After 3 to 4 mins, taste the curry. If needed add more salt or spices according to your taste. Turn off the flame now 

    Garnish the dish with coriander leaves. Finally, the Crab Curry is ready to serve along with Pav, Bread Or Rotis. This Crab Curry tastes good with steamed rice as well

Important Points To Note:

Buy fresh crabs only and wash them properly

You can add or remove spices according to your taste
