Cannes 2023- Chef Prateek Sadhu Makes His Festival Debut

Think Cannes Film festival and the very thought of movies and the glitzy outfits that celebrities wear while walking the Red Carpet comes to our mind, But hold, there’s something more to look forward too as Chef Prateek Sadhu cooked up some tasty treats in the India Pavilion this year. The curated dinner blends the best in Indian and French cuisine to create a culinary experience that is one-of-a-kind. As part of the collaboration with Godawan, Chef Prateek Sadhu created a menu that emphasizes regional nuances of Indian ingredients and flavours, never presented on a global scale. The menu was paired with Diageo India's selection of world-class spirits, providing an immersive sensory experience for guests.

Last year it was chef Manu Chandra who brought the flavours of Rajasthan, Gujarat and more on a plate with dishes like 'Pyaaz ki kachori', 'Laal Maas' and 'Gatte ki Sabzi', 'Kadhi' and 'Khichdi' represented Gujarat. Cut to this year Chef Prateek Sadhu takes the centre stage at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival as he will be leading the catering at the inaugural dinner hosted by the Minister of Information and Broadcasting at the India Pavilion. He took to Instagram and wrote “Cannes 2023 Honoured to be repping India 🇮🇳 and host the inaugural dinner for The Honourable Minister at the Cannes Film Festival @festivaldecannes

"I am honoured to host the inaugural dinner for The Honourable Minister at the Cannes Film Festival. As a Chef, I believe in the power of food to bring people together and create meaningful connections. This dinner is an opportunity to showcase the best of Indian food and culture to a global audience and to highlight the vibrant culinary traditions of our country. I am excited to collaborate with Diageo India and Godawan to create a memorable dining experience that reflects the richness and diversity of Indian craft."

He is ready to showcase some of the rare delights from Indian like the Khasi dish called Tungrymbai,  made out of smoked and fermented soya beans which will be It will be paired with a local traditional bread called Puthrao along with a smoked tomato chutney. Apart from that menu sees pepper fry from Tamil Nadu and Millet Thoran,  (a Kerala-based dish). There’s was also a millet pulao that's paired with French Sole fish cooked in the traditional Malvani flavours. Maharashtrian Potato Koshimbir makes it’s presence in the salad section, and yes the dessert section is surely  gonna gove you guilt trip with names like Sandesh from Bengal to Maharashtrian Chikki, the Mysore Pak. Wondering what’s in beverage there’s  Kashmiri Kahwa and Indi’a own homegrown coffee from Chikmangalur Karnataka.

The inaugural dinner took place at the Cannes Film Festival on May 16, 2023, and was attended by Miss world 2017 winner Manushi Chhillar, Academy Award winner Guneet Monga, Actress Urvashi Rautela, Indian ace director Madhur Bhandarkar among others. ” The Journey of India” promises to be a unique culinary experience that reflects the beauty and complexity of Indian and French cuisine.
