Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi: Spreading Happiness, One Dish At A Time

Indian foodscape is known for its diversity across the globe, not just because of the regional delicacies but also an array of local ingredients and spices used in cooking. This has also made Indian dishes earn the title of ‘difficult to cook’, but not when Laughter Chef aka Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi is demonstrating the process.

From Khana Khazana and Turban Tadka to Kitchen Khiladi and Laughter Chefs Unlimited Entertainment, he has not only helped home chefs upskill but also motivated amateurs to light up the gas stove and cook a simple yet hearty meal in their homes.

Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi Fuses Humour With Spices

“When we started Turban Tadka, I had a clear vision that I did not want to build a television program with a teacher-student relationship. I wanted to be loved, I wanted to be amongst people who were watching me, and I wanted to be omnipresent in their kitchen and homes,” he says.

With this approach, Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi added a tadka of humour to his cooking. When we hear, “Namak-Shamak, Nakak-Shamak Daal Dete Hain,” we know who is cooking on television. Apart from his culinary prowess and infinite wisdom of Indian food and global cuisines, he also makes people feel comfortable in the kitchen which is why we think he is also the best fit for Laughter Chefs Unlimited Entertainment on Colors TV.
