Blue Blazer: A Unique Flaming Cocktail To Give A Try This Winter Season

Blue blazer may be the world's most dangerous cocktail as the blending style is unique in contrast to other popular cocktails. It is a flaming cocktail that’s regarded to be one of the classics of its time which is blended by igniting the mix of ingredients using a matchstick or with the use of fire extinguisher bars. This flaming drink may not have a very euphonious name but it sure tastes better to the palate than it sounds to one’s ears. Blue blazer is a cocktail that was invented in the 18th century which was introduced to the world after being talked about its recipe in a bartender's book of cocktails. Blue blazer is a similar version of a hot toddy made with scotch except that it’s an alcoholic drink made with a blazing stream of liquid fire. Of course putting together a blue blazer all by yourself is a bit risky for many but the smoky flavour and touch it adds to this cocktail was the reason it gained popularity back in the time and was quite popular among people. However, a blue blazer is still viewed as one of the popular hot beverages around the world that are made with unique variations and personal twists. So here are the steps to carefully blend a blue blazer at home at your own risk.

Ingredients:

  • 1 glass of scotch whiskey
  • 3 cups boiling water
  • Sugar to taste

Steps in the making-

  • Take whisky in one glass and boiling water in the other. Mix them in a separate container ideal for igniting it with a matchstick.
  • Set the liquid on fire and while blazing, continue mixing both ingredients by pouring them four or five times from a mug.
  • Finally, transfer it into a glass and garnish it with lemon peel.
  • The Blue blazer is ready.

Takeaway tip- To avoid igniting the liquid, you can simply just mix both the ingredients together by heating them together in a pan, similar to how we prepare tadka at home and then strain it into a glass.
