Birthday Boy Ranveer Singh’s ‘Jordar’ Foodie Side That We Love

What a year has it been for actor Ranveer Singh. In addition to starring in many memorable films like 83 and Jayeshbhai Jordar. He also appeared in an episode of the internationally acclaimed ‘Man Vs Wild’ with Bear Grylls and will be the first guest on the brand new season of Koffee With Karan too. Actor Ranveer Singh, who made his debut in the year 2009 with ‘Band Baaja Baraat’ has emerged as one of the most sought-after actors of tinsel town. While many of his movies require him to be on a strict diet, but that has never stopped the actor from flaunting his foodie side. From expressing his love for Sindhi curry to his wife and actor Deepika Padukone’s cooking, Ranveer has done it all on his social media. And on his 37th birthday, we are taking a peek into some of his favourite foods.

Being a true-blue Sindhi, Ranveer has grown up eating many delicious Sindi food, but his favourite is the fiery Sindhi Kadhi, he revealed in an AMA session. When a follower asked him about his favourite Sindhi food, he replied, “Sindhi curry with rice and boondi and Arbi Tuk on the side. For the uninitiated, Sindhi curry is a delicious recipe replete with spices and fresh vegetables including gavarfali, potatoes, drumstick, bhindi, and a little besan. It may or may not have tamarind pulp. Ans aloo tuk are simply, seasoned, fried potatoes.

Ranveer maybe a Sindhi, but his wife, actor Deepika Padukone is a proud Kannadiga, so once when Ranveer was in Bangalore, he feasted on a delicious local dessert that many would not know of beyond Karnataka. He tried the Chroti Halu, Chiroti is a flaky, delicate South-Indian dessert made with semolina/flour and powdered sugar. It is much like a puffed biscuit or puri with flaky layers. It is typically served in a bowl and crushed, and topped with almond milk, nuts and sugar.

Speaking of Deepika, Ranveer often cannot stop singing praises about his wife’s cooking skills. During the first lockdown, he posted a whole series of stories gushing about Deepika’s homemade cake and pasta. In a recent AMA, he called Deepika “multi-talented" and said he loved everything that the actor cooked. In the same AMA, when a fan asked him to choose between fish and chips or dhokla, he wrote “Dhokla for life”. Relatable much?

He proved his love for Gujarati food yet again, when he chomped on a  delish, king-size Gujarati thali.

However big a ‘food buff’ Ranveer maybe, he sure knows how to strike a balance between his cravings and dietary demands. The other time when a fan asked him what he had for his breakfast, he gave a rather detailed breakdown. On that day, his breakfast featured a bowl of oats 130 grams, with 15 gms of nuts and 5 gms chocolate chips. Post which, he enjoyed immunity-boosting shots, along with a detox drink. He concluded his meal with a probiotic drink and shilajit - ashwagandha date balls.

On your birthday, we hope you get to feast on everything you love. Wishing you a very happy birthday Ranveer Singh.
