Ghee is good, but cow ghee is even better for health, says an Ayurveda expert

Ghee is produced from a fatty component that is sourced from either cows or buffalos. There are various methods that can be utilised to make ghee or clarified butter. Over the years, ghee has become one of the most favoured fats for its range of health benefits. Moreover, ghee is packed with nutrition, and enhances mental and physical well-being. It is viewed as medicine in Ayurveda. How you may ask?

The role of ghee in Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a holistic science, which is why the entire cycle of sourcing desi ghee is fundamental. There are certain ways in which unadulterated ghee can be procured. To begin with, cows must not be bound in gaushalas. They should be left to munch unreservedly during the day, basically on grass. Their eating routine must consist of roughage. All in all, the right eating regimen is what influences the nature of the milk. 

In Ayurvedic literature, ghee is considered beneficial for the body. It helps to build the sapta dhatus in our body. That’s not all — it is rich in antioxidants, fat soluble vitamins like vitamins A, E, and D. It also purifies the vata, pitta, and kapha doshas which get aggravated in our bodies. 

Now, here’s an important question — if there are so many significant uses of the consumption of ghee, which is the variety that is favoured by Ayurveda? It is cow ghee.

Here are some benefits of cow ghee
  • Cow ghee is known as amritam in Ayurveda, and is packed with A2 content, which is very useful in treating cholesterol issues.  It must be a part of your daily diet, since it improves:
  • Acidity and digestion
  • Enhances eyesight
  • Used in various Ayurvedic formulations
  • Helps to reduce stress, anxiety, risk of cancer, diabetes, and improves immunity
  • It is also anti-inflammatory in nature
  • Helps to increase appetite and promotes flexibility.
  • Consumption of cow ghee is beneficial during pregnancy, but only after consulting a doctor. 
  • A2 cow ghee improves the absorption of minerals and fatty acids in the body.
  • In facial paralysis, cow’s ghee is introduced in nostrils through nasya therapy in panchakarma.  It increases ojas and sattvic guna in the body.
