One can't beat the taste of homemade French fries. There are techniques involved while making perfect french fries, these are double fried. The first fried batch includes cooking of the potatoes so that they turn tender and soft. The second batch of frying is to make the potatoes crispy and crunchy.

The recipe is so versatile that it is easily made and loved by people. This is a classic dish which goes along with burgers, grilled steaks, or mussels. It is also known as chips, finger chips, fries, or French Pommes Frites.  Fried fries are usually served and enjoyed with some dips like ketchup, mayonnaise, or vinegar. The peri peri masala, if sprinkled over the fries, doubles the taste.

According to historians, potato frying originally appeared in Belgium in the late 1600s, so that is where it is said to have its roots. Belgian folklore claims that the poorer villagers of the Meuse Valley frequently ate small fried fish they had caught in the river. When the river froze in the winter, fishing became impossible, and the residents were forced to find alternative food sources. At this point, the peasants started preparing potatoes, a root vegetable, by slicing and frying them similarly to how they cooked fish. When American soldiers were stationed in Belgium during World War I, they were first introduced to fries.
