Anushka Sharma is a foodie, and let’s just say we have enough proof of that. The ‘Phillauri’ actor shares glimpses of her gastronomic adventures on social media quite often, and we are left slurping each time. She is also one actor who never shies away from trying different types of cuisines and local foods. From her snippets on social media, we definitely know that she is all for regional Indian vegetarian delicacies. Be it her traditional Bengali meal, a meal of podi dosa, or a staple vada pao binge on a rainy day, or an ultimate Sindhi brunch, Anushka’s food shenanigans are always a delight. From Onam Sadhya to Bengali comfort meal including dhokar dalna, aloo potoler dolma and khichuri, Anushka loves devouring it all. Her latest indulgence involves a regional Indian meal too and we are drooling already.
After Maharashtrian, South Indian, Sindhi and Bengali, Anushka was seen relishing an Assamese meal. One of the lesser-known cuisines of India, the food of Assam offers distinct flavouring and influences. While most of the delicacies in Assamese cuisine are known to be non-vegetarian, for vegetarians such as Anushka Sharma, there are still ample options. Sharing a picture of her yummy-looking platter for lunch, Anushka wrote “This Assamese lunch was divine to say the least” while tagging ‘Gitika’s PakGhor’, the one who curated the meal for her. Take a look at what Anushka posted:

On her plate we could spot some Khar, a dish prepared with pulses, vegetables or even fish or meat. The basic ingredient that is 'Khar' is however, obtained by filtering out the liquid from a solution of water and dried, charred banana peel. This Assamese dish is unique as it preserves the alkaline or astringent taste of the Khar liquid. Along with it was some dal, rice and beetroot salad. Quite a wholesome meal it seems!
While researching, we came across the whole menu for Anushka’s lunch, shared by the chef, Gitika, herself! She revealed how the menu was curated for Anushka’s lunch with her family, and some guests. And so it also had some amazing non-vegetarian delicacies such as prawn roselle and Catla fish. The menu was designed after “a few messages were exchanged with her team”, Gitika revealed in an Instagram post she shared. With a screenshot of Anushka’s Instagram story, she also shared a picture of packed boxes of dishes that were sent. Take a look:
