India is home to diverse cultures and cuisines, with every region boasting various dishes, flavours, and aromas. Naturally, Indian food is loved globally. Time and again, we also see Indian celebrities sharing pictures and videos of themselves enjoying their favourite curries and desserts on social media. The latest among them is Anupam Kher. The veteran actor relishes Kashmiri food, while he also loves digging into other regional delicacies. And the highlight of his foodie side is his love for desi desserts.
While the 67-year-old actor may have done tremendous work in cinema and won accolades for the same, upon seeing desserts, he instantly turns into a kid. How do we know that? His recent indulgence! The actor is currently in his birthplace, Shimla, and has been having a gala time reminiscing all the childhood memories. He recently shared glimpses of his drool-worthy sweet meats and we’re loving them.
The first Instagram story shows crispy, hot jalebis dipped in sugar syrup kept in front of him. Although this sweet dish traces its origin in Persia, it’s way more popular in India today. Next, in the story, we see a two-tier dessert stand. On top are crispy fried balls which look like balushahi. This is often referred to as an Indian doughnut but it differs in taste and texture. Below it is another dessert which looks like a pastry covered in cream.
The interesting bit to note here is that the actor was also seen having sweets the next morning for breakfast along with some fruits. This isn’t the first time that the actor has shared his love for sweets. Earlier, he was at a hotel for a stay and was gorging on the dessert section at their buffet. Even on Independence day, he treated himself to lip-smacking gulab jamuns and we loved it.
Another time, we saw him indulging in patisa aka soan papadi. This delectable, yellow, square-shaped dessert is flaky, sweet and rich in taste. He was seen picking them up from a box of mithai after his meal and that’s enough proof to suggest that the actor is still a kid at heart when it comes to desi mithais.
