Alternatives To Cake For A Special Celebration

Why not blow out your birthday candles on something other than cake? Maybe you're not a fan of fluffy baked goods topped with sweet frosting, or maybe you're searching for a unique way to celebrate your birthday. While cakes have been used to celebrate birthdays for hundreds of years, there's nothing wrong with switching things up and celebrating with one of these delights instead.

Dirt pie

Dirt pie is very popular. It's a quick and easy birthday treat made with vanilla or chocolate pudding, crushed Oreo cookies made to look like dirt, and a sprinkling of gummy worms. Serve it in individual cups or a large bowl, or make it look like gardening soil by putting it in a bucket or flowerpot.

Ice cream

When you could be heaping toppings on a scoop of ice cream yourself, why wait for someone to deliver you a slice of cake? Any party featuring an ice cream sundae bar will undoubtedly be a success. Arrange a colourful variety of fruit, nuts, chocolates, sprinkles, and sauces on the table, then watch as the ice cream fiends attack.

Cheesecake cupcakes

If you're looking for a portable birthday dessert and regular cupcakes are out of stock, then little cheesecakes are for you. They have the appearance of cupcakes and can hold a candle, but are created with a graham cracker or cookie shell and a sweet creamy, cheesy interior, with no flour. Use berry or funfetti toppings, an Oreo cookie crust, or a chocolate filling for a festive look.

Donuts

They're no longer simply for breakfast. When you surprise your birthday kid with a display of donuts from your favourite e donut shop or marble-glazed or unicorn donuts you frosted yourself, they'll go crazy. For a deep-fried spin on birthday cake, pile glazed donuts into a mountain and cover with icing and sprinkles. Alternatively, cut a selection of gourmet donuts into quarters so that everyone can try a range of flavours. You could even go all out and build a donut wall for a larger gathering.

Cookie cakes

Instead of cake, a large chocolate chip cookie will work. Cookie cakes are ideal for birthday parties since they can still be decorated with frosting and topped with candles. Instead of shoving the entire cake into your mouth like Cookie Monster, we recommend slicing it like a pizza.

Whoopie pies

Although a whoopie pie may sound funny, these delicious sandwich-style pastries might be a tasty alternative to cupcakes for your next birthday celebration. To make the bun, bake a soft chocolate cookie and fill it with marshmallow buttercream frosting. Don't stop there, though. Make your whoopie pies extra festive by dyeing or flavouring the frosting, using alternative cookies such as red velvet or gingerbread, or upgrading the filling with candy or colourful cereal mix-ins.

Fruit parfaits

Some families prefer birthday goodies that aren't cake. If that's the case, let me introduce you to the fruit parfait. Layer your favourite yoghurt with bright fruits and berries, granola, crushed nuts, or graham crackers in transparent glass. Your visitors won't realise the dessert is very healthy because of the rainbow fruit colours.
