Have you ever wondered why Canapé is the name given to this snack?

There's a fascinating reason for this. In French, a canape refers to a sofa. It indicates that the savoury toppings or savouries are placed on the toast of bread in the same way as people sit on a sofa. It's certainly an intriguing reason to name a snack after this.

Canapés are typically served with beverages such as wines, whiskeys, or other liqueurs to enhance the flavours. It is thought that serving little snacks and nibbles such as canapés with your drinks makes the entire experience more pleasant and wholesome. Some individuals add butter or pastes to their canapés to make them taste even better.  Aside from these toppings, a variety of colourful garnishes are added to make them look more pleasant to the eye, as people are drawn to brightly coloured foods. These garnishes could be whatever we like, such as scallions, onions, veggies, or meat or chicken bits.  Some individuals add cream cheeses, lobsters, or hams to their Canapés as well.
