And keeping up with the spirit here are two rare expressions of single malts that would make for ideal additions to your whisky collection. The Glenmorangie Signet – A velvet explosion, inspired by espresso. Inspired by the simple pleasure found in a cup of coffee, comes The Signet’s spiralling explosion of flavour, with sizzling spices and bursts of bitter mocha mellowed by smooth butterscotch. And the Glenmorangie Grand Vintage 1996 – Marvelously rounded over 23 years, this is our luxurious tribute to the pursuit of perfection.
As Dr Bill, the freethinking Director of Whisky Creation, enjoyed a cup of his favourite Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee, the notion of Signet first came to him. At once his mind filled with spiralling mocha flavours that he could not forget. It would take him years to bring our unprecedented whisky to life. But in its tiramisu tones and melting chocolate, you can taste his most delicious imaginings.
Signet begins with our precious chocolate malt spirit, made just once a year in our giraffe-high stills. Its espresso-like intensity fills our Distillery with aromas more familiar in an Italian coffee bar. Over the years, we temper its power with rare and treasured casks. Bourbon for creaminess. Sherry for sweetness. The spice of virgin charred oak. All balanced by some of the oldest whisky we own. The result? A velvet explosion of flavour. Bursts of bitter mocha, sizzling spice and waves of dark chocolate, mellowed by smooth butterscotch. Whisky, as you have never tasted it before.

Coffee, ginger and cinnamon melt into dark chocolate and tiramisu, with dark toffee, crystallized orange peel and rich fruit cake.
Mocha and spice combine with cappuccino and amaretto, before a finale of chocolate-coated raisins and orange.

The exclusive vintages of our Bond House No. 1 Collection are all shaped by their own unique stories. Each distilled in a single year, they are captured at their peak by our skillful whisky creators, and shared at their remarkable best.
The Collection’s sixth release, Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1996, is luxurious and creamy. Long aged in a handful of our first custom-designed casks, this quintessential Glenmorangie honours our pioneering quest to find the perfect casks for our whisky.
On our search for those casks, we journeyed to the northern slopes of Missouri’s Ozark Mountains. There, we found slow-growth American white oaks with a particularly porous structure. Inviting greater synergy between wood and spirit, they would magnify Glenmorangie’s creamy character.
Aged entirely in first-fill casks, Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1996 showcases a supreme creaminess from the wood, entwined with a deep concentration of the spirit’s fruity, floral influences
Fresh and perfumed, like a bouquet of roses, carnations and jasmine, with a piquant hint of coriander. Mandarin orange and pear follow on, enhanced by a fruity, candied sweetness.
A splash of water reveals more carnations, scents of geraniums and gentle, buttery vanilla.
A zesty, citrus mouthfeel brings a surge of oranges and lemons, tempered by ripples of vanilla and fudge. Next, with remarkable finesse for a whisky of such age, come subtle notes of ginger, sweet chilli and oak.
Delicate and dancing, with the softness of cake mix, almonds and pear.
