A Wonderful Bohra Delicacy - Dabba Gosht

India is a country which has as many cuisines as it has people. And every cuisine is as intriguing, as interesting as the next one and that is what makes the food so good. So many people have so many different tastes and that makes every cuisine very unique. And that is exactly what the Bohra cuisine is like. It is a little underrated and not everyone knows about the specialties of this cuisine. But once you get to know about it, there is no stopping. One such dish is the Dabba gosht. Let us know about it. 

Dabba gosht is a dish that is made with mutton      that is served in a box, literally a dabba. It is soaked in a wonderful creamy sauce. The dish is a great lunch or dinner option that you can make and enjoy with your family. Order some fresh mutton from licious and you are ready to make dabba gosht. Let us look at a simple recipe for this dish. 

Ingredients 

  • 1 kg boneless lamb meat 
  • 2 onions chopped 
  • 2 tomatoes sliced 
  • 7-8 green chilies 
  • ½ boiled cup macaroni 
  • 2 tbsp cashew powder 
  • 1/4 cup fried potato cubes 
  • 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste 
  • 2 tbsp butter 
  • 3 tsp black pepper 
  • 4 tbsp ghee 
  • 3 tbsp maida  
  • 1 cup milk  
  • 2 boiled eggs   
  • 1 whole egg 
  • Chopped coriander leaves

  • Boil the mutton in pressure cooker till tender, along with chopped onion, ginger-garlic paste, green chilies and salt. Keep it aside.
  • Take a cup of mutton soup to use later.
  • Heat butter in a pan and add jeera, cashew powder and maida in it. Continuously stir and make sure not to burn it.
  • Pour milk slowly and stir it continuously to avoid the lump.
  • Add the mutton soup and cook the sauce till it reaches perfect sauce consistency.
  • Add salt and pepper to the sauce.
  • Add boiled meat, fried potatoes and boiled macaroni to the sauce and mix well.
  • Pour it on a serving container.
  • Add boiled egg pieces over it and make a layer of tomatoes slices.
  • Beat 1 eggs in a bowl with some some salt and red chilli powder. 
  • Heat ghee. And add the beaten egg over the white sauce mutton and pour boiling ghee on the egg.
  • Heat the oven at 2000° and bake it for 5 minutes.

Serve the dabba gosht with chapati or rice and enjoy a wonderful lunch or dinner with your friends and family.
