As we fast during Navratri, fruit juices come as refreshing beverages. The second day of this festive is dedicated to the red colour. Then why not make some pomegranate juices? People don't frequently look up recipes for pomegranate juice. Since the fruit is composed of tiny berries, extracting the excellent taste takes time and effort. However, it's all worthwhile. It can keep one hydrated while observing fasting during these nine days.

Let's try these five recipes of juices made with pomegranate.

Pomegranate basil blend

Slice one California apple. Take one pomegranate (remove the arils). In a pitcher, transfer the fruits and add 12 large fresh basil leaves to the bottom. And fill it with ice almost a little above half of it. Now pour 350 ml apple juice, 350ml pomegranate juice and one freshly squeezed lemon juice.

Rosemary meets pomegranate

Prepare the simple pomegranate syrup by blending ¼ cup fresh pomegranate juice, ½ cup sugar, ¼ cup water and rosemary sprigs in a saucepan. Keep the flame medium and stir till the sugar gets dissolved. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat right away. Give the rosemary 15 minutes to steep in the warm, simple syrup. Allow it to cool. Mix 4 ounces of fresh lemon juice. Serve it in a glass with ice cubes and garnish with pomegranate seeds.

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine 1/4 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of water to make the sugared cranberries. Stirring is required to dissolve the sugar after bringing it to a simmer. Add 3 ounces of fresh cranberries after taking the pot off the heat. Mix thoroughly till coated. Give it 10 minutes to sit. Transfer the cranberries to a wire rack and leave to dry for at least an hour. Spread 1/2 cup of sugar on a big plate. Roll the cranberries in sugar till they are coated evenly. Allow them to dry for an hour. Add 1/2 cup pomegranate juice, 1/2 cup cranberry juice, and 1/4 cup fresh lime juice to a mason jar along with soda and blend them well. Pour it into glasses with a teaspoon of sugared cranberries, and top it up with ice cubes.

Pomegranate with the goodness of chia

Soak one tablespoon of chia seeds overnight. You can store it in larger quantities and use it for a few days. Next morning, take two pomegranate fruits. Remove the peels and churn the juice with the kernels. Use the juice as is, without discarding the seeds and fibre. In a pitcher, fill the bottom layer with the soaked chia seeds, add the pomegranate juice, a bunch of washed fresh mint leaves, two tablespoons of organic honey and the juice of one lemon. Stir all of them well. Serve the juice in a glass and top it up with ice cubes.

Watermelon is one of the best fruits to keep you hydrated. Make a highly vitamin C enriched juice by blending half watermelon cut into small cubes and one whole pomegranate juice (remove the peel). You needn't add water. If you wish, mix some ice cubes. This beverage is naturally sweet enough. For extra sweetness, add jaggery powder or honey.
