This beloved Indian dessert originated from the city of Mathura. The Mathura Peda is the characteristic variety from the city. 1. Always use full cream milk  

Most Indian desserts are made with full cream, same goes for your peda. It is necessary to use full cream milk in order to get the perfect thick and creamy khoya. Also, the content of full cream milk helps in creating soft and tender homemade sweets. So in order to get perfectly soft and halwai-style pedas at home, use a good quality full cream milk.  

2. Cook the mixture until it gets thick 

After you have made a mixture for pedas, cook them in a pan on low medium flame. You must continue to stir the mixture continuously for some time. Also, cook the mixture on low until you notice a proper thick consistency without any lumps. A thick consistency will make it easier for you to shape your pethas, without them breaking down into pieces.  

3. Make balls only after the mixture has cooled down 

When your mixture is ready, keep it aside to cool down for about half an hour. Start making the balls only after it has cooled down properly. Before getting ready to start making the balls, grease both your hands with ghee or oil.
