In the beginning, we some dal or lentils which is followed by a chunky and dark brown vegetable which looks spicy. Next, there is some sliced potato subzi along with lots of condiments and papads. There is some light and refreshing raita at the corner and a thin curry besides it. Brass-coated cutlery and plates are laden on the table, giving the whole affair a traditional feel.

Since the thalis are still quite popular in different parts of the country and offer a wide range of delicacies on one plate, here are some North Indian thalis that are a must-have.

1.  Punjabi Thali

The flavourful taste buds of Punjab offer a delectable range of dishes that will leave you licking your fingers. From pindi chole to dal makhni and shahi paneer, everything is rich, creamy and heavenly. Loaded with ghee, the crispy tandoori rotis and jeera rice pair well with all the curries.

2.  Kashmiri Thali

Full of Kashmiri specialities, the thali has some robust and lip-smacking flavours. Also known as wazwan, it has a host of dishes like yakhni, tabak maaz, dum aloo and more. The hot and fiery meaty curries are balanced by the mild and creamy vegetable ones.

3.  Rajasthani Thali

Rajasthan is all about dal baati churma and gatte ki subzi. However, this thali also includes non-vegetarian fare like laal mass, jungli maas and other meats.
