Every good get-together needs a snack people can keep reaching for between conversations, games and episodes of a show. Enter crispy air fryer tater tots: golden potato bites with a crunchy exterior and a fluffy centre. They're easy to share, fun to dip and even better when there's more than one sauce on the table.

With a smart Usha air fryer, you can get those tots crisp without standing over a pan of hot oil. Pair them with creamy, flavour-packed aiolis, and you've got a snack platter that's ready to steal the spotlight at your next get-together.

To make crispy air fryer tater tots, preheat your Usha air fryer to 200°C, or follow your model's recommended settings. Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer in the basket and air fry for 12-18 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden and crisp. Cooking times may vary, so check the package instructions as well.

While the tots cook, prepare these six easy aiolis to serve alongside them:

1. Classic Garlic Aioli

Sometimes, the simplest dip is the one that disappears first. Garlic aioli brings together a creamy base, the punch of fresh garlic and a little lemon juice to cut through the richness. To make an easy version, blend mayonnaise, one small garlic clove, lemon juice and a pinch of salt with a hand blender until smooth. The garlicky dip is familiar, savoury and versatile enough to please guests.

2. Smoky Chipotle Aioli

For friends who like their snacks with a kick, smoky chipotle aioli is a welcome change from the usual ketchup. Blend mayonnaise with chipotle chilli in adobo, or a little smoked chilli paste, a squeeze of lime and a pinch of smoked paprika. Adjust the chilli to suit your crowd; the idea is to add warmth and smokiness without overwhelming the potato flavour.

The Usha hand blender helps bring everything together into a smooth dip that clings to the crisp edges of the tots. Set it out with a bowl of hot air-fried bites.

3. Coriander-Mint Aioli

Give your snack platter an Indian-inspired touch with a coriander-mint aioli. Add fresh coriander, a few mint leaves, mayonnaise, lemon juice, a small green chilli and a pinch of salt to a blending beaker. Use the hand blender to make a smooth, vibrant dip, adding a teaspoon of water only if needed to loosen the texture.

The herbs bring freshness, while the chilli adds a gentle bite that balances the richness of the potatoes. This is a good choice when your snack spread also includes masala peanuts, paneer bites or other spicy party favourites.

4. Honey-Mustard Aioli

Not everyone prefers a hot dip, and honey-mustard aioli provides a more mellow mix of tastes. Mix the mayonnaise with Dijon or wholegrain mustard, a little honey, a squeeze of lemon and a dash of black pepper. Its creamy texture is perfect for dipping crispy potato tots, but it also works with onion rings or veggie sticks if you’re putting up a bigger sharing platter. Keep the honey modest so the dip complements the potatoes and doesn’t taste like a dessert.

5. Peri-Peri Aioli

If peri-peri fries are a common order among your buddies, this aioli belongs on the table. Combine mayonnaise with peri-peri spice, lemon juice, a dash of garlic and a splash of water, if required. Blend until smooth, taste and season accordingly. The outcome is creamy, tangy and full of chilli taste.

While the air fryer does its magic on the potatoes, whip up the dip and serve them right away so the crispy tots and aioli contrast well.

6. Cheesy Pepper Aioli

For a dip that tastes like a little extra comfort in every bite, try a cheesy pepper aioli. Blend mayonnaise with finely grated Parmesan, cracked black pepper, a squeeze of lemon and a small amount of garlic. If the mixture becomes too thick, loosen it with a teaspoon of water and blend again. The cheese adds savoury depth, while the pepper gives it a gentle bite.

Serve it with hot tater tots and let everyone choose their favourite combination. It’s particularly good when the snack table needs something indulgent but easy to put together.
