Chicken Manchurian

Manchurian is a food loved by almost everyone. Fried rice and chicken Manchurian is the universally acceptable patent dish.  If you are a lover of Chinese cuisine, then you must have tried, and loved, chicken Manchurian at least once. This Chinese dish is available at any Chinese restaurant all over the globe, except probably in China.

In 1975, a young man named Nelson Wang, aged 25, was working at the prestigious Cricket Club of India, catering Chinese food. A year earlier Wang moved to Bombay from Calcutta to pursue his dream of becoming a chef. Besides, India’s relation with Chinese food is well known, thus a customer at CCI famously asked Wang to cook something unique, a dish beyond the menu. Wang took up the challenge and prepared a legendary dish, now known as Chicken Manchurian.

Recently, there have been several inclusion of Indo-Chinese dishes in Chinese restaurants in India. Innovative dishes like Singapore Chicken or Kung Pao Chicken have been added to the menu. However, Chicken Manchurian with simple egg fried rice or hakka noodles is loved by all.
