The largest city in Kentucky, Louisville, is located near the Indiana border on the Ohio River. The Kentucky Derby, a renowned horse race with a rich history examined at the Kentucky Derby Museum, is held at Churchill Downs Racecourse every May. Baseball is revered at the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory, where Major League bats are made, and a massive baseball "slugger" guards the entry.

This place has unique and delicious pizza. Louisville is well recognised for its extensive selection of exceptional dining establishments, offering various cuisines from authentic Mayan and Cuban food to bourbon-inspired dishes. Here are some pizza recommendations from restaurant, dining, and tourism industry review sites to assist you in selecting the best eateries.

Six Pizza Places To Try In Louisville

1. Pizza Danny Mac's

Danny Mac's, located in a sizable arts complex formerly a meat processing plant, has recently gained popularity as one of Louisville's best places to get pizza for a reasonable price. Since its opening in the Clifton neighbourhood, it has gained popularity among the locals, especially in light of the regrettable closure of longtime fixture Clifton's Pizza. Start with the delicious Crack Sticks, then savour a thick and oozy slice of pie from the pizza, and savour the crispy edges on that hand-tossed dough for a little while. In addition, the Philly cheesesteak is excellent, and Tim Tam Tavern provides a second option for D-Macs if you happen to be in the Audubon neighbourhood.

2. The Post

The Post has become a popular location in Louisville, particularly for the younger set, who come here for the slice of the day and a few beers on the patio. The pizza is served as thin, New York-style pies. You can always have a customised one; but some tasty specialty pizzas go by names like The New Colossus, which has chicken and pesto sauce, and The Army Brat, which is topped with bratwurst and jalapenos. Although the slice of the day constantly changes and is determined by the chef, previous offerings have included chicken Caesar salad pizza and jalapeño corn dog pies.

Timings: Mon-Sun: 10:00 am to 11:00 pm

Must-Try Dishes: Caesar salad pizza and jalapeño corn dog pies

3. Lupo Pizza

The location of this establishment, a brick structure from the 1860s, lends it an air of antiquity, further enhanced by the old-fashioned movie posters inside. However, the layout and design of the inside also give it a progressive vibe. It also helps that LUPO is run by seasoned musicians who are passionate about Italian cuisine, particularly pizza prepared in the Neapolitan way. Fresh fermented dough is made daily, and everything is prepared from scratch. Pizza LUPO is so genuine that an imported pizza oven from Modena, Italy, was used as its trademark.

Location: 1540 Frankfort Ave, Louisville, KY 40206, United States

Timings: Mon-Sun: 10:00 am to 11:00 pm

4. MozzaPi

While the wood-fired, handcrafted pizzas take centre stage here, this pizzeria also functions as a bakery and grain mill, serving up some of the tastiest pastries in the city—especially those chocolate chip cookies. However, owner Tom Edwards hand-built the entire restaurant, which looks like what would happen if a bard and a cathedral crossed paths. It features a 23-foot-tall grandfather clock and two enormous chairs. Tom even made the table tops. Of course, the pizzas, which range from the classic Margherita to the speciality sweet onion marmalade pie, are just as inventive and imaginative as everything else in the magnificent restaurant. It's the epitome of destination dining.

Location: 12102 La Grange Rd, Louisville, KY 40223, United States

Timings: Mon-Sun: 10:00 am to 11:00 pm

Must-Try Dishes: Sweet onion marmalade pie, classic Margherita

Price for 2: $80 approx.

5. Garage Bar

Located in a former car wash, Garage Bar tops its pizzas with homemade meats and locally grown vegetables before baking them in an imported Italian wood-fired brick oven that produces a fiery crust. Get a tasting platter from the ham bar—yes, a bar with only country ham—while you're there to go with your pie. Don't forget to sample the Margherita before you leave. Although it tastes great without additional ingredients, adding shaved country ham, a farm egg, and fried kale chips won't hurt. If all you want to do is stop in for a beer or signature cocktail, the car-themed décor and patio are worth seeing on their own.

Location: 700 E Market St, Louisville, KY 40202, United States

Timings: Mon-Sun: 10:00 am to 11:00 pm

Must-Try Dishes: Margherita, Breakfast Pizza

6. Pizza By Coals

Coals immediately made an impression in Louisville with its Neapolitan-style pizzas, flash-cooked in a scorching oven until crisp and barely burned on the edges. Speciality pies with names derived from Louisville neighbourhoods are available; each pie is topped with fresh ingredients that capture the city's essence.  It is topped with Nueske's bacon, gammon, marinara, fresh and shredded mozzarella, pineapple and Parmesan.

Location: 3724 Frankfort Ave, Louisville, KY 40207, United States

Timings: Mon-Sun: 10:00 am to 11:00 pm

Must-Try Dishes: Crescent Hill, Neapolitan-style pizza
