Barbra Streisand once stopped the plane for valid reasons, of course. The aircraft was frequently cancelled because of one reason. As another of her favourite food-related confessions from her best-selling 2023 memoir "My Name Is Barbra," the actor, vocalist, icon, and now-author Barbra Streisand reveals that she once physically halted an aeroplane due to an incomplete snack order.
She said that without clotted cream, her favourite scones are incomplete. The matter happened when the pilot prepared to taxi out and rev up the engines; she yelled, 'Stop the plane! She writes that as a treat for everyone, she had ordered scones with fresh strawberries and clotted cream; the scones had arrived, but not the cream.
Streisand treated the crew with a traditional afternoon tea buffet, which has scones, clotted cream, jam, or, in the case of Barbra, crushed fresh fruit. Streisand could not tolerate the lack of clotted cream on board as the aircraft prepared to depart.
Spooned cream, also known as Devonshire cream or Cornish cream, is a dairy product originating in southwest England. Over the years, it has become a widely used condiment for a variety of baked goods, including scones, crumpets, and fast bread served during afternoon tea.
Clotted cream is produced by heating whole, nonfat milk for several hours in a shallow saucepan. As the cream ascends, it does so. The name derives from the fact that the cream thickens and clots as it cools for the next 12 to 24 hours. When the watery whey is drained, clotted cream is obtained; it is thick, creamy, and has a pale yellow tinge.
It is a delightful treat and an excellent companion for a scone, but you do not have to make the extreme effort of halting a plane to obtain it.
