Served with rice or roti, Khatta Shorba is a mutton curry made with mutton, garlic ginger paste, onion, fennel powder, coriander powder, oil, gram flour, yoghurt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt as per taste, and coriander leaves and green chillies for garnish.

The Mutton Curry’s history in India sees a slight variation. Called the Railway Mutton Curry, it was a less spicy version of the normal dish, suited to British palettes, and served on the Frontier Mail, a very prestigious train in the 1900s, among others. It was served with rice or roti, in first class dining cars of long distance trains, giving the dish its name.

Mutton also has several health benefits, being low in saturated fats and in calories, and high in protein, which helps build muscle mass. Altogether, it may aid weight loss, depending on one’s lifestyle. It's high in iron (which boosts one’s immunity) and in vitamin B12 (which aids in the cells’ energy production). It's high potassium content also regulates blood pressure and maintains cell functions.
