Tostadas is Spanish for toasted and the dish is essentially a base that can have a variety of toppings. They're a great dish to make when one has leftover food items in the fridge. The tostadas’ history goes back 2,000 years ago when in Mexico’s Monte Alban, the food was created. The story goes that it was thought up to prevent tortillas that were too stale to be used as tacos from going to waste. But no specific person has been attributed to the dish’s creation.
The Tostadas are certainly a great way of ensuring no food goes to waste, and are versatile enough to allow a large range of toppings, with the Chicken Tostadas being just one way of interpreting this delicious, crunchy dish.
