- Chicken BLT Wrap

The Chicken BLT Wrap is a delicious, easy to make dish that can be eaten as a snack or a meal. To make it, one needs chicken, salt, pepper, corn, lettuce, bacon, avocado, tomatoes, onion, ranch dressing, and tortillas. Simply throw the ingredients in the tortillas, roll it into a wrap, and grill. The quick and easy dish is ready.
The BLT combination is popular as a wrap, but is much more widespread as a sandwich, and each ingredient has a long-winded history. Lettuce was first cultivated by ancient Egyptians around 1680 BCE. From there it travelled to Greece and Rome, and by 50 CE, several types of lettuce were grown in the west. The bacon has an even longer history. Wild boar meat was cured by smoking, salting and drying since the palaeolithic era or the stone age. But the modern bacon appeared only in the mid-1700s. Before, bacon meant all pork, and later, all cured pork. British farmers noticed that certain pig breeds had plumper sides, distinguishing bacon from cured pork. And tomatoes came to Europe from the Americas around the 16th century, not as food, but as houseplants. They were only eaten in Europe in the 1800s, started because of a famine in Italy.
The wrap’s main ingredient, chicken, also brings with it several health benefits. It strengthens bones and muscles. It's rich in protein, making one feel full longer and thereby contributing to weight management. It also contains tryptophan, which leads to higher levels of serotonin in the brain, which is the feel good hormone.
The Chicken BLT Wrap then is as much a record of long histories as it is a healthy and delicious dish.
