Xiao's Cola Tofu Recipe

Deep fried tofu cooked in Cola till coated with a sweet sticky sauce flavoured with garlic and spices. It is a fun kitchen experiment. This cola-glazed tofu might sounf like a weird combination at first, but it's so good. It's so sweet , hot, and a little bit sticky. As the tofu cooks, the sauce caramelizes, which results in crispy edges for the crust of tofu. Serve with the rice, veggies and avocado.

Ingredients for Xiao's Cola Tofu Recipe

  • 450 gram Tofu
  • 700 milliliter Cola
  • 2 No.s Garlic Cloves
  • 4 No.s Cloves
  • 2 No.s Bay leaves
  • 1 No.s Star anise
  • 1 tablespoon Dark soy sauce

Directions: Xiao's Cola Tofu Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.In a wok heat 1 ltr oil on medium heat, add 450 gm tofu cut into bite size chunks and deep fry till light brown.

  • STEP 1.Use a slotted spoon to remove and drain the tofu. Keep aside.

step 3

  • STEP 1.In a saucepan add 700 ml cola, 2 thinly sliced cloves of garlic, 2 bay leaf, 1 star anise and bring to a boil.

step 4

  • STEP 1.When boiling add fried tofu, 1 tbsp dark soy sauce and continue to cook until all the liquid has almost completely evaporated. Transfer the dish to a plate and serve.
