Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, ghee, and salt. Add water gradually to make a firm dough.
  • STEP 2.In a separate bowl, mix grated coconut, jaggery, chopped nuts, and cardamom powder to make the filling.
  • STEP 3.Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a small disc. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center and fold the disc to form a half-moon shape. Seal the edges by pressing with a fork.

  • STEP 5.Serve the whole wheat flour karanjis warm or at room temperature. They can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure the dough is not too soft or too hard. It should be firm enough to hold the shape of the karanjis.
  • You can add a pinch of turmeric powder to the dough for a vibrant yellow color.
  • To make the karanjis healthier, you can bake them instead of deep-frying. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
