Ingredients for Whole Wheat English Muffin Recipe

  • 1 cup Milk warm
  • 4 tablespoon Butter melted
  • 1 Egg Nos
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 3 teaspoon Sugar
  • 3 teaspoon Dry Active yeast
  • 2 cup Whole Wheat Flour
  • 2 cup All purpose flour
  • As required Oatmeal or semolina

Directions: Whole Wheat English Muffin Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.into a large mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer add 1 cup warm milk, 4 tsp melted butter, crack in 1 egg, ½ tsp salt, 3 tsp castor sugar, 3 tsp dry active yeast, 2 cups whole wheat flour, 2 cups all purpose flour. Start the mixer and knead till the ingredients come together to form a dough like consistency. Add a little more water or milk to bring the doubt together to form a dough that is soft and smooth. Continue to knead for a few minutes after the dough has come together.

  • STEP 1.place the dough in a greased bowl. Cover with cling wrap and allow it to rest for 2 hours till doubled in size.

  • STEP 1.once dough has risen, roll into a log and divide into 8 to 10 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball with a flat bottom be pressing against the palm.

  • STEP 1. dust each side of the shaped dough with oatmeal or semolina.

  • STEP 1.dust the baking tray with oatmeal or semolina and arrange all the shaped dough muffins in rows to rise for a second time. Cover the dough with a moist cloth so that it doesn’t dry out and allow it to rise for 30 minutes.

  • STEP 1. roll the risen muffins in semolina and place them on a hot skillet. Cook the muffins for 7 to 10 minutes on each side on the skillet on low heat.

step 7

  • STEP 1.the muffins should be golden brown when flipped over to cook on the other side for 7 to 10 minutes.

step 8

  • STEP 1.when done arrange the muffins on a cloth in a basket.

step 9

  • STEP 1.to serve the muffins, split them open and serve with butter and jam.
