  • 0.13 cup Yogurt
  • 0.13 cup Water
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ginger Paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Green Chili Paste
  • 0.06 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1/4 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • as needed A Few Curry Leaves
  • 1/2 Green Chilies, Slit

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a mixing bowl, combine wheat flour, yogurt, and water to make a smooth batter.
  • STEP 2.Add ginger paste, green chili paste, turmeric powder, salt, and sugar to the batter. Mix well.
  • STEP 3.Grease a steamer plate with oil and pour the batter into it. Steam for 15-20 minutes or until the dhokla is cooked.
  • STEP 4.Once cooked, remove from the steamer and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • STEP 5.Cut the dhokla into square or diamond-shaped pieces.
  • STEP 6.Heat oil in a small pan and add mustard seeds. Let them splutter.
  • STEP 7.Add curry leaves and green chilies to the pan. Saute for a minute.
  • STEP 8.Pour this tempering over the dhokla pieces.
  • STEP 9.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and grated coconut.
  • STEP 10.Serve the wheat flour dhokla with green chutney or tamarind chutney.

  • Make sure the batter is smooth and free of lumps for a fluffy dhokla.
  • You can add a pinch of baking soda to the batter for extra fluffiness.
  • Do not overcook the dhokla, as it may become dry.
