  • 166.67 g mutton with bones
  • 1.33 Tbsp Yogurt
  • 1 Pieces Finely chopped onion
  • 0.33 Tbsp Garlic paste
  • 0.33 Tbsp Ginger paste
  • 0.17 Tsp Turmeric powder
  • 0.33 Tbsp kashmiri red chilli powder or sweet paprika powder
  • 0.33 Tbsp Red chili powder
  • 0.67 Tbsp Coriander Powder (Dhania Powder)
  • 0.33 Tsps Garam Masala
  • As Required Salt
  • As Required Mustard oil
  • As Required Fresh coriander
  • 0.33 Tsp Kasuri methi
  • 1.67 Pieces clove
  • 1 Pieces tomato chopped
  • 1.67 g reen cardamom
  • 2.67 Pieces peppercorns
  • 0.33 Pieces cinnamon stick
  • 0.33 Pieces Bay leaf
  • 1.67 Pieces whole green chillies..slit
  • 0.67 Pieces Black cardamom

Directions: Village Style Mutton Masala In Mitti Handi Recipe

  • STEP 1.Wash the mutton pieces in a large bowl. Add ingredients to marinate such as curd, ginger paste, garlic paste, salt, turmeric, red chilli powder and Kashmiri red chilli powder and mix well so that the mutton will coat well with curd and spices.
  • STEP 2.Cover the bowl with a lid and keep the mutton in the refrigerator for about ½ an hour
  • STEP 3.Make the paste from tomatoes by grinding them in grinder.
  • STEP 4.Heat the ghee/oil in a clay pot on medium heat. When the ghee gets hot, add bay leaves, cinnamon and green cardamom and stir well. Cook it for about 2 minutes while stirring continuously.
  • STEP 5.Add onion and green chillies and cook on medium heat until the onion becomes translucent while stirring.
  • STEP 6.Reduce the heat to low. Add marinated mutton and fry it for about 5 - 7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • STEP 7.Cover the handi with a lid and cook it for about 10 minutes until moisture comes out of it, stirring occasionally to avoid burning.
  • STEP 8.Add tomato paste to it and fry it till the raw aroma of tomato is gone. This process will take about 5 - 7 minutes.
  • STEP 9.Increase heat to medium. If you like cooking in a pressure cooker, transfer the mutton with the spices to the pressure cooker or you can cook in the same handi Add water and mix well, as much as the curry you like.cook for 30 mins
  • STEP 10.Boil it with an open lid to the thickness of the gravy of your choice. Taste the gravy for spices add whatever salt or spice is necessary and mix well.
  • STEP 11.Turn off the gas. Transfer the delicious mutton curry to a serving bowl. Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves. Serve the hot mutton curry with roti or rice for your lunch or dinner.
