Ingredients for Vietnamese Lemongrass Chicken Recipe

  • 500 gram chicken thigh fillets, cut into roughly 3cm cubes
  • 4 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cornflour
  • 1 stalk lemongrass bruised and white part finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 5 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 long red chili, finely chopped
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 cup coconut water
  • 1 long red chili, finely sliced
  • As required steamed rice to serve
  • 1/4 cup roughly chopped coriander to serve

How to Make Vietnamese Lemongrass Chicken Recipe


Combine the chicken, fish sauce, sugar, cornflour, and the lemongrass(bruised with the back of your knife, peel off the outer layer as it is very fibrous and freshly chop them) in a bowl. Leave to infuse for ten minutes.


Slice the onion and chilies. Finely chop the garlic and chop the lemongrass.


Heat one tablespoon of the oil in a cooking pan over high heat. Add remaining lemongrass, garlic, chili, and onion and stir-fry for a second.


Push all the ingredients to the facet to create a house for the chicken. Add the remaining one tablespoon of oil so add the chicken. Unfold the retire and permit to cook for 2-3 minutes or till getting down to brown. Then stir-fry and toss everything along.


Add the coconut milk and simmer for five minutes or till the chicken is hard-boiled through and therefore the sauce has thickened slightly.


Serve the chicken with steamed rice and top it with coriander leaves as per your taste.
