Ingredients for Vendhaya Kerai Sambar Recipe

  • 2 cup Methi leaves
  • 4 No.s Drumstick cut into inch pieces 1
  • 10 No.s Baby onions quartered
  • 1 No.s Tomato quarters
  • 2 tablespoon Sambar powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 cup tamarind water
  • 1 teaspoon Gingelly oil
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • 1 sprig Curry leaf
  • 2 No.s Dry red chilli broken

Directions: Vendhaya Kerai Sambar Recipe

  • STEP 1.To make the Vendhaya keerai sambar,in a pressure cooker add 2 cups roughly chopped methi leaves, 1 drumstick cut into 4 inch pieces, 10 baby onions quartered, 1 tomato quarters, 2 tbsp sambar powder, ½ tsp turmeric powder and1 cup tamarind water.
  • STEP 2.Pressure cook for 2 whistles and release the pressure immediately.
  • STEP 3.Add 1 ½ cup cooked toor dal, 1 cup of water and mix well to combine.
  • STEP 4.Boil briskly for 2 to 3 minutes. Turn off the heat.
  • STEP 5.For tempering, in a preheated pan add 1 tsp gingelly oil. 1 tsp mustard seeds, ¼ tsp hing, 1 sprig curry leaf, 2 broken dry red chilli and saute till seeds crackle.
  • STEP 6.Pour tempering over the sambar.
