  • 1/2 cup Rice
  • 0.13 cup Urad Dal
  • 0.13 teaspoon Fenugreek Seeds
  • 1/2 Onion, Finely Chopped
  • 1/2 Carrot, Grated
  • 1/2 Capsicum, Finely Chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Coriander Leaves, Chopped
  • As required Salt To Taste

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Soak rice and lentils separately for 4-6 hours. Grind them separately to a smooth paste.
  • STEP 2.Mix the rice and lentil batter together and let it ferment overnight.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped vegetables like onions, carrots, capsicum, and coriander leaves to the batter.
  • STEP 4.Heat an appam pan and pour a ladleful of batter into each cavity. Cover and cook until golden brown.
  • STEP 5.Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure to grind the rice and lentils to a smooth paste for a fluffy texture.
  • You can add grated coconut to the batter for added flavor.
  • If you don't have an appam pan, you can use a regular non-stick pan to make small pancakes.
