Ingredients for Vattayappam Recipe

  • 0.17 cup Idli rice
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 0.13 cup Coconut
  • 1/25 cup Cooked Rice
  • 0.08 teaspoon Instant Yeast
  • 0.08 teaspoon Cardamom powder
  • 1/25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.83 teaspoon Sugar

Directions: Vattayappam Recipe

Preparation Directions

  • STEP 1.Soak 1 cup idli rice in 2 cup water for 3 hours.
  • STEP 2.Drain out after 3 hours

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Blend in a mixer grinder 1 cup soaked idli rice, ¾ cup grated coconut, ¼ cup cooked rice, ½ tsp instant yeast, ½ tsp cardamom powder, ¼ tsp salt, 1 cup water and 5 tsp sugar.
  • STEP 2.Blend the ingredients well in the mixer grinder to form a smooth loose batter.
  • STEP 3.Keep the batter aside for 3-4 hours
  • STEP 4.Grease a baking pan with ghee and Pour the batter into the tray
  • STEP 5.Place the pan into a steamer on a grill stand
  • STEP 6.Steam for 20 minutes and the vattayappam is ready.
