Vada pav, alternatively spelt wada pao, is a vegetarian fast food dish native to the state of Maharashtra. The dish consists of a deep fried potato dumpling placed inside a bread bun sliced almost in half through the middle. It is generally accompanied with one or more chutneys and a green chili pepper.

Ingredients for Vada pav Recipe

  • 62.50 g mediumsized potatoes
  • 50 g gram flour ( Besan)
  • 12.50 g Crushed Dry Ginger
  • 6.25 g Garlic cloves and
  • 18.75 g Green chlli
  • 0.13 Kg Edible oil For Frying
  • 3/4 Pieces Lagre onion
  • 1/4 Tbsp cumin seeds (jeera) powder
  • 1/4 Tbsp mustard and cummin seeds of
  • A Bunch Fresh mint leaves washed n chopped
  • As Required laddi pav
  • As Required Amul Butter (used salted one)

Directions: Vada Pav Recipe

  • STEP 1.• Put a kadai on the gas and add oil and fry the onion in the oil till it turns brown.
  • STEP 2.• Also fry garlic-jeera and ginger paste in oil and fry green chilli paste in oil.
  • STEP 3.• Mix mashed potatoes and roasted masala together. Make small round balls of the mixture with your palms.
  • STEP 4.• Take gram flour in a pan and add water to make a thin solution.
  • STEP 5.• Add oil to a pan on gas and let it heat for five-seven minutes. When the oil is ready for frying, dip balls of the mixture into the besan solution. (Besna layer should form on the ball.)
  • STEP 6.• Fry the ball in besan in hot oil.
  • STEP 7.• Fry the Vada made from the mixture in a kadai with the help of jaara.
  • STEP 8.• After the loaves acquire a slight reddish color, the loaves are considered to be fried.
  • STEP 9.• Remove the fried bread with a colander.
  • STEP 10.• Chop the bread and fry it in a pan with butter.
  • STEP 11.• Add mint chutney and peanut chutney to the bread and add vada in between.
  • STEP 12.• Serve the vada pav hot.
