  • 1/4 cup Urad Dal
  • 3/4 cup Water
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • as required A Few Curry Leaves
  • 1/4 Onion, Chopped
  • 1/2 Green Chilies, Chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • as per your need Chopped Coriander Leaves For Garnish

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Rinse 1 cup of urad dal under running water and soak it in water for 4-6 hours.
  • STEP 2.Drain the water and transfer the soaked dal to a pressure cooker.
  • STEP 3.Add 3 cups of water, 1 teaspoon of salt, and pressure cook for 4-5 whistles.
  • STEP 4.Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and check if the dal is cooked and soft.
  • STEP 5.If needed, cook for a few more minutes until the dal is fully cooked.
  • STEP 6.Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves for tempering.
  • STEP 7.Add chopped onions, green chilies, and ginger-garlic paste to the pan and sauté until onions turn golden brown.
  • STEP 8.Add cooked urad dal to the pan and mix well. Cook for a few minutes until the flavors blend together.
  • STEP 9.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or bread.
