Everyone at my home relishes something new to eat. Try to make a different recipe for my family and to my surprise everyone liked it. Have made kofta from urad dal and served them in garlic flavoured spinach gravy.

Ingredients for Urad dal kofta in garlicky spinach gravy Recipe
0.15 cup skinless split black gram (urad dal) washed and soaked
0.40 Pieces Green chillies broken into
1/10 g Piece ginger
1/10 tsp Red chilli powder
1/20 tsp Asafoetida
1/20 tsp Turmeric powder
1/10 tsp Cumin seeds
1/10 tsp Garam masala powder
to taste Salt
0.40 tbsp Oil
1/10 tsp Cumin seeds
1 g 5-6 g
0.40 tbsp white part of spring onion chopped
1/5 tbsp chickpeas flour (besan)
1/5 cup spinach puree (blanched palak puree)
1/5 cup 1 &1/2 cup
A Pinch Pinch turmeric powder
1/5 tsp Red chilli powder
1/10 tsp Cumin seeds powder
as required oil for deep frying the kofta
1/20 cup homemade cream
1/5 tsp Lemon juice
As Required For Ganishing for garnishing white part of spring onions chopped
Directions: Urad Dal Kofta In Garlicky Spinach Gravy Recipe
STEP 1.In a kadhai add sufficient amount of oil and heat it to fry the kofta.
STEP 2.Wash and soak urad dal at least for 4-5 hours. Now take the dal in a mixture jar and add little water for grinding. Add chopped green chillies and ginger pieces to it and grind them into a smooth paste. Transfer it into a bowl.
STEP 3.Now add all the spices for kofta to the urad dal paste. Mix everything properly.
STEP 4.When the oil is heated properly add small size of kofta from the urad dal mixture. Fry them on medium heat till crisp and golden brown. Similarly fry the remaining koftas.
STEP 5.In a kadhai heat oil for gravy and add cumin seeds to it. When cumin seeds change colour add the chopped garlic to it and cook till it's raw smell goes away.
STEP 6.Now add the white part of spring onions and cook till translucent. Now add besan and sauté till fragrant.
STEP 7.Now add water and cook for about a minute. Now add the spices for the gravy.
STEP 8.Mix everything well and add the blanched spinach puree to it, mix properly and cook for a while.
STEP 9.Now add the ready koftas to the gravy. Mix everything well and add ghar ki malai to it and cook for 2 more minutes.
STEP 10.Add lemon juice, mix it well and serve it. Garnish with white part of spring onions. Serve with rotis or parathas.
