Padavalanga was always grown in the backyard at home and always made with different kinds of recipes of snake gourd. It is a healthy vegetable and is used in recipes like aviyal, sambar,theeyal etc. Combination of prawns and snake gourd is also super yummy. Try this, you will surely love it.

Ingredients for Unakka Chemeen Padavalanga Aviyal Recipe

  • 1.50 cup Snake gourd sliced lengthwise
  • 1/2 cup Dry shrimp
  • 2 No.s Green chilli
  • 1/4 cup Shallots
  • 1/4 teaspoon Chilly powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • As required Salt
  • As required Curry leaves
  • As required Cooking Oil
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 cup Grated coconut
  • 1 tablespoon Curd

Directions: Unakka Chemeen Padavalanga Aviyal Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Take an earthen pot, add in 1 cup of water and sliced snake gourd.

step 2

  • STEP 1.Add ¼ tsp each of turmeric powder and chilli powder. Add 2 green chillies and steam with a lid on.

step 3

  • STEP 1.Cook till the water is fully vaporized.

step 4

  • STEP 1.To prepare coconut gravy, grind ½ cup of coconut, 2 shallots, ½ tsp cumin seeds and a green chilly in a grinder.

  • STEP 1.Add ½ cup of dry shrimp,coconut gravy and 1 tbsp of curd.

step 6

  • STEP 1.6 cook with the lid on for another 2-3 minutes on medium flame.

step 7

  • STEP 1.Garnish a few curry leaves and drizzle 1 tbsp of coconut oil. Mix well.
