Coconut rice is traditional old diah of kerela. I made it on the occasion of onam. Mostly served with any curry or sambhar.
Ingredients for Traditional Covonut rice 🥥🥥 Recipe
1/2 Cups Rice
1/2 g Grinded coconut
A Pinch Asafoetida
1/2 Tsp Mustard seeds
1/2 Pieces Chilly
1/2 Tsp Cumin seeds
1/2 Tsp Methi seeds
A Handful Curry leaves
1/2 Tbsp Urad Dal
To Taste Salt
Directions: Traditional Covonut Rice 🥥🥥 Recipe
STEP 1.Grind coconut chunks and cumin seeds together.
STEP 2.Heat oil in a cooker . Add mustard seeds, methi seeds, green chillies, urad dal, asafoetida and curry leaves. Saute for a min until it starts spluttering and aromatic.
STEP 3.Add the grinded coconut to the pan and saute for a minute. Now add rice and salt. Mix everything well and cook covered for 2 more minutes. Now add water and cover the lid let 2 whistle come and coconut rice is ready.
STEP 4.Serve hot with sambhar or any curry.
