  • 1/4 cup Toor Dal
  • 1/2 Tomatoes, Chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Mustard Seeds

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Pressure cook lentils with tomatoes, turmeric powder, and salt until soft and mushy.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped onions and cook until they are golden brown.
  • STEP 4.Add the cooked lentil-tomato mixture to the pan and bring it to a boil.
  • STEP 5.Add tamarind pulp, sambar powder, and cook until the flavors are well combined.
  • STEP 6.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or idli.

Cooking Tips

  • You can add vegetables like drumsticks, carrots, or brinjal for extra flavor and nutrition.
  • Adjust the spice level according to your preference.
  • If you don't have sambar powder, you can use a blend of red chili powder, coriander powder, and turmeric powder.
