Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves. Let them splutter.
  • STEP 2.Add chopped onions and saut茅 until they turn translucent.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and mushy.
  • STEP 4.In a blender, grind grated coconut and cumin seeds into a smooth paste.
  • STEP 5.Add the coconut paste to the tomato mixture and mix well. Cook for a few minutes.
  • STEP 6.Add water and bring the saar to a boil. Simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  • STEP 7.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or as a side dish with idli or dosa.

Cooking Tips

  • You can adjust the spice level by adding more or less red chili powder.
