A simple and flavoured rice or pulao recipe cooked with tomatoes, onions and capsicum. It is cooked in butter with some spices and seasoning ingredients.

Ingredients for Tomato Pulao Recipe

  • 1 tablespoon coconut, grated
  • 1.50 No.s dried red chilli
  • 1.50 No.s garlic clove
  • 1/2 inch Ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon Fennel
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • 1.13 cup Water
  • 1 tablespoon ghee / clarified butter
  • 1/2 No.s bay leaf
  • 1/2 inch Cinnamon
  • 2 No.s Cardamom
  • 1/4 No.s onion, sliced
  • 1 No.s tomato, finely chopped
  • 1.50 tablespoon Peas
  • 1/4 No.s capsicum, roughly chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup sona masuri rice, soaked 20 minutes
  • 1 tablespoon coriander, finely chopped

Directions: Tomato Pulao Recipe

  • STEP 1.Soak basmati rice for 20 minutes.
  • STEP 2.In a blender take 2tbsp coconut, 3 dried red chilies, 3 garlic cloves, 1 inch ginger, 1 tsp fennel, 1 tsp cumin and 1 tsp coriander seeds.
  • STEP 3.Add ¼ cup water and blend to smooth paste and keep aside.
  • STEP 4.In a cooker heat 2 tbsp of ghee and add 1 bay leaf, 1 inch cinnamon, 4 pods cardamom, 1 tsp of cumin seeds.
  • STEP 5.Saute on low flame for 2-3 minutes.
  • STEP 6.Add ½ onion and saute until onion is cooked.
  • STEP 7.Add 2 tomatoes and saute until it turns soft
  • STEP 8.Now add in the prepared masala paste and cook for 2 minutes.
  • STEP 9.Add 3 tbsp peas, ½ capsicum, ½ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp garam masala and 1 tsp salt.
  • STEP 10.Saute for 1-2 minutes until it turns aromatic.
  • STEP 11.Add 2 cup water and get to a boil.
  • STEP 12.Add 1 cup basmati rice, 2 tbsp coriander and mix well.
  • STEP 13.Cover and pressure cook for 2 whistles on medium flame.
  • STEP 14.Serve on a plate and enjoy.
