A bengali recipe of sour masoor dal with unripe mangoes. We are having Tok Dal aka Kancha Aam diye Toker Dal quite regularly these days. Kancha Aam aka Green Mangoes after all in season and we are utilizing those as much as possible as part of our regular meal at home. Among other things, a light lentil soup prepared with Green Mango and Red Lentil aka Masoor Dal, known as Tok Dal is the most common one.

Ingredients for Tok Dal Kacha Aam Diye Recipe

  • 100 gram kacha aam
  • 12 gram Salt
  • 38 gram Sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 2 piece green chilies
  • 100 gram masoor dal
  • 1 piece dried red chili

  • STEP 1.Wash the dal and boil in a pressure cooker till one whistle and Beat the dal for 30secs

  • STEP 1.Beat the dal for 30secs

step 3

  • STEP 1.Peel and cut the mangoes & Soak the mangoes in water

step 4

  • STEP 2.Soak the mangoes in water

step 5

  • STEP 3.Heat a pan with mustard oil

step 6

  • STEP 4.Temper with dried red chili,green chilies,mustard seeds

step 7

  • STEP 5.Add mangoes and salt

step 8

  • STEP 6.Cover till the mangoes are soft

step 9

  • STEP 7.Add the beaten dal

step 10

  • STEP 8.Add turmeric , salt and sugar and mix well

step 11

  • STEP 9.Boil for 5mins on medium heat

step 12

  • STEP 10.Mash the mangoes in the dal and cook

step 13

  • STEP 11.Serve as a side dish to rice
