A traditional Gujarati snack prepared from gram flour dough mixed with spices. A sphaghetti maker is used to give it the proper shape and then it is fried for crunch. Can be enjoyed with tea and coffee.
STEP 1.Take a pan and add a cup of water in it and add a tablespoon of oil in it. Let it boil.
STEP 2.Take a plate and add 2 cups of gramflour, make sure its lump free. Add carrom seeds, a spoon of kashmiri red chilli powder and add salt to taste. Mix using your hand and then add the boiling water to make a dough. Make a stiff dough by adding little by little water and kneading till it changes its colour. Make it soft.
STEP 3.Before cooking the gathiya make sure you grease your hands.
STEP 4.Use a sphaghetti maker to make the strings of ghathiya.
STEP 5.Take a deep frying pan and add oil. now drop the dough by rubbing the dough on it. Make sure you grease the zara maker.
STEP 6.Fry ghathiya on medium flame. Wait till they turn light in colour. The ghaathiya is ready. Serve with chillies.
